The Sweetness and Blessings of Camp Newman - Shana Tova
Dear Camp Families,
It is besheret (meant to be) that URJ Camp Newman was as an apple orchard before it became our camp for living Judaism. Apples provide sustenance, health and sweetness which mirrors c amp's mission of enriching lives through living Judaism. The laughter, friendships and growth campers experience are just a few of the ingredients making camp so sweet every year.
Apples (and honey) are symbolic of our Jewish New Year, when we pause to contemplate life's meaning, its blessings and our role in tikkun olam (bettering our world). We thank you for helping us to create a place that provides sweetness to thousands of children and young adults every year; a place where tikkun middot (becoming our best selves) and tikkun olam comes to life. Even camp's most popular song, L'Taken (na na song) thanks God for the opportunity to create a better world.
We at Camp Newman wish all of you and your loved ones a Shana Tova. Thank you to the camp staff, faculty and board for your continued support as we enter another joyful year at URJ Camp Newman.
L'shana Tova,
Ruben, Sam, Adam, Ari, Linda and Tracy
